The overarching vision for Information Technology and Communication (ITC) at Berwick TEC is twofold:
1. To structure ITC so it is present everywhere and accessible by everyone; a natural part of life at the TEC – the way you do things
2. The technology must serve education (okay and provide some fun and entertainment too!)
Interactive whiteboards as the catalyst of all learning at the TEC
The primary technology tools at the TEC are interactive whiteboards.
Put simply, an interactive whiteboard (IWB) can be used progressively up to the ultimate level – when the IWB is a catalyst, an accelerator for all that happens in the classroom or groups.
Imagine a "window to the world" with students and teachers sharing learning experiences. It's almost like the classroom turns into a live TV studio where a story builds with relevant information grabs displayed and transmitted through the IWBs
In addition, there are other significant IT tools that supplement the whiteboards...
Ultra mobile PCs
As a student, you can sign in for an ultra mobile PC for light use such as accessing the internet or general classwork. And when you want a computer with more grunt you can access larger PCs as well.
Large screen LCDs
Large screen LCDs are installed through the common areas and broadcast information and entertainment.
Mobile learning
The aim is to move to mobile learning with wireless connections. You'll also be able to log into MyChisholm which provides online support and information for Chisholm and Berwick TEC students.
